Maria Mulindi - Program Manager

Maria moved to South Africa from Kenya in 2003. She graduated from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth with an LLB degree. She is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa with High Court Right of Appearance and is qualified to practice in the Magistrate’s Court, the High Court and the Labour Court. Before joining Projects Abroad in March 2011, Maria specialised in civil litigation. Maria currently focuses on refugee related cases, and is fluent in kiSwahili.

Sherwin Daniels - Legal Services Coordinator

Sherwin was born and raised in Cape Town. He completed his LLB degree at the University of the Western Cape. Whilst there, he did an international human rights course with the Howard University (USA), which is where his passion for human rights commenced. Thereafter, he completed law school with the University of Cape Town and the Law Society of South Africa. Sherwin worked at the Legal Aid board and two civil law firms prior to joining Projects Abroad. He gained experience in the judicial system and focuses primarily on criminal law. He is an admitted attorney.

Miriam MacDonald - Volunteer/Intern Supervisor

Miriam is originally from Scotland, although was born and raised in Luxembourg. After graduating from the University of Glasgow in 2011, where she focused on human rights in Africa, she came to Cape Town to volunteer at the Projects Abroad Human Rights Office for three months, after which she moved to Swaziland before eventually returning to Cape Town to work as the Two Week Special Programme Coordinator at PAHRO, where she is now Intern Supervisor. She runs the legal clinic at Lavender Hill and manages the workshops at the shelters for abused women.

Shuan Solomons - Social Justice Coordinator

Shuan is from Vrygrond in the Cape Flats, and his passion to work with and help people stemmed from having witnessed the hardship faced by those in his community. He joined Projects Abroad in 2010 as a Volunteer Coordinator and joined PAHRO in 2011 as the Social Justice Coordinator. This position has given him the opportunity to be creative and come up with different ways to teach life skills to young people from communities like his own.

Judy-Rose Cyster - Executive Assistant

Judy-Rose was born and raised in Cape Town. She enjoys the outdoor life and regularly goes to the West Coast to get away from the hectic city life. She completed an internship with Southern Sun studying hospitality and worked within that industry for four years. However, her passion has always been to make a difference in peoples’ lives. In high school she was part of the community outreach programme and has done voluntary work for the Art of Living Foundation. Judy-Rose enjoys working with people, travelling to different places and experiencing new things. She is currently the Executive Assistant at PAHRO.
