Social Justice

All of the projects which are run within the social justice department are open to all volunteers to get involved in. Your choice of project(s) may be dependant on your studies, career choice or simply an area of interest.

Below is a list of the projects and the project partners we are currently working with. This list however is not exhaustive and is ever changing. New projects are sometimes introduced by passionate volunteers who have a clear idea of projects they wish to start and new relationships are sometimes formed with project partners. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own ideas and we will try to accommodate these.

Although projects are ever changing we do have some permanent projects which we must keep up with and visit on a weekly basis. These projects are our main priority as we have promised our time to them and must ensure that we continue to provide our assistance. This includes such projects as Bonnytoun, St. Anne's and Sisters Incorporated.

We then have projects which run at different times throughout the year, either in the school holidays or when we have high numbers of volunteers or maybe just when we have eager volunteers who are extremely passionate about a certain area and want to run the project for the time they are here. Such projects include the mock trial, peace by peace and one man can. The facilitation of these projects is dependant on volunteer numbers as the permanent projects will take priority when numbers are low.

Please also be aware that during holidays such as Christmas and Easter, work with projects is slower as a lot of organisations shut down for the holidays. There will however always be something for you to work on.
